4EU+ Opens 2026 Calls for SEED4EU+ and Visiting Professorships: Boosting Research Collaboration Across Europe
The 4EU+ European University Alliance has officially launched its 2026 calls for applications under two flagship programs: SEED4EU+ and Visiting Professorships. Both initiatives aim to strengthen research, innovation, and academic mobility across the alliance’s eight member universities, fostering a One Comprehensive Research-Intensive European University.
Two Funding Schemes, Two Career Stages
Both calls introduce two funding lines to support researchers at different stages of their careers:
Early Career Line: Designed for researchers who obtained their PhD 2 to 10 years prior to January 2027 and are building academic independence.
Standard Line: Open to researchers with over 10 years of post-PhD experience.
SEED4EU+ Call: Seed Funding for Joint Research Projects
The SEED4EU+ program provides funding of up to €40,000 per project to support collaborative research initiatives involving teams from at least three 4EU+ member universities. The goal is to develop sustainable research networks and prepare applications for external funding at national, European, or international levels.

Visiting Professorships Call: Enhancing Academic Mobility
The Visiting Professorships program funds 3 to 6-week stays for academic staff at a host university within the alliance. Activities may include joint research, educational innovation, or the development of shared infrastructure.
