Acute respiratory failure (ARF) is the primary cause of neonate, pediatric and adult intensive care unit (ICU) admission. The RESPIRE research network aims to mutualize clinical research expertize of all the medical ICU departments of Sorbonne University in the field of ARF. This research network is transversal. It is covering all age group (from neonates to seniors), all kind of ventilator support, and the main patients groups (community, neuromuscular, immunocompromised).

The objectives of the RESPIRE network are

  1. to promote new research project in ARF and therefore increase the scientific productivity in that field;
  2. to develop and support the research in nursing and physiotherapy cares; and
  3. to ease rapid set up of epidemiological studies during infectious pandemic period.
