Bruno Riou

He was elected Dean of the Faculty of Health sciences on December 12, 2023. Bruno Riou was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Sorbonne University since February 12, 2015. Previously he was vice-president of medicine at UPMC, from 2002 to 2015. University professor in anesthesia-resuscitation then in emergency medicine at Sorbonne University, he was head of the Department Emergency Department at Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital from 1999 to 2019 and is responsible for the UF for coordinating organ and tissue harvesting at Pitié-Salpêtrière. He was also head of the PRAGUES (Anesthesia-Resuscitation-Emergency-Pneumology-EFR-Geriatrics-Sleep) center at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital.

He was elected President of the Council of Health Deans for Ile de France in 2016, and reelected in 2019 and has since been a member of the APHP Executive Board and a member of the APHP Supervisory Board.

He has been elected  chairman of the Emergency Medicine Committee since 2017 and was a member of the Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Committee from 2006 to 2012.

He is the editor-in-chief of the Annales Françaises de Médecine d'Urgence [Emergency medicine journal] and was Senior Editor of the Anesthesiology journal.

He is also a member of the Société Française de médecine d’urgence [French Society of Emergency Medicine], of Samu et Urgence de France, of the Conseil national de l’urgence hospitalière [National Board for A&E in Hospitals], and UMRS Inserm 1166 at the ICAN [Institute of Cardiometabolism and Nutrition] University Hospital.
